Our mission
We strive to perform high-quality research in the field of marine natural products by fully taking advantage of our close proximity to the marine environment and intertwine fields of science to provide a wide range of research projects that focus on Puerto Rico’s biodiversity. Our overarching goal is to train scientists in the field of natural products including chemical synthesis, natural product isolation and characterization, and medicinal chemistry of marine secondary metabolites in relationship to a plethora of human diseases such as cancer, anxiety-disorders, viral and bacterial infections.
The team
Our research group consists of undergraduate and graduate students, as well as laboratory staff that possess and are looking to develop knowledge and skills in different scientific fields, fostering a multi- and interdisciplinary approach to marine natural product research. We promote diversity and inclusion as a key cornerstone to innovativeness and support a team-oriented environment to maximize learning experiences.
