Ángel is an undergraduate student at the UPR-Rio Piedras majoring in Chemistry. He is a member of MARC (Maximizing Access to Research Careers), which is a program for students interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in the Biomedical Sciences. As part of this program, he has participated several times at ABRCMS Conference, where he has presented his summer research projects. In addition, he has presented oral presentations on his previous work at the JTM/PRISM. In Dr. Caro’s lab, he has been working on the synthesis of cyanobacterial natural product analogues with applications to pancreatic cancer. As part of his long-term goals after college graduation, he desires to obtain an Organic Chemistry Ph.D. to perform good science with a high level of creativity.
